The Ned Smith Center for Nature and Art will celebrate the 22nd annual Nature and Arts Festival on Saturday, July 25 from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. at MYO Park in Millersburg.  There are also programs happening throughout the day at the Ned Smith Center.  Admission to activities at MYO Park is FREE, with the exception of “The Butterfly House,” for which there is a $2 admission. Admission to the Ned Smith Center is also free on the day of the festival.

At this year’s festival, we will feature 70-plus programs on owls, native plants, honeybees and butterflies, as well as many more nature and environmental topics. There are many activities and programs aimed especially for children, making the festival a great outing for the whole family.

The main stage will feature musical performances from singer-songwriter Jay Smar, and Americana indie outfit Vulcans, as a live wild animal program by ZooAmerica.

Throughout Saturday’s festivities, FREE shuttle vans will run between MYO Park and the Ned Smith Center. The Center will be open until 6 p.m., and will feature Pennsylvania Artists: A Tribute in the Olewine Gallery and Ned Smith: Nature through a Master’s Hand in the Ned Smith Gallery. Admission to the Center’s galleries is free on festival day.

The Center will also feature the winning entries of our 2015 Youth Art Contest, as well as other educational exhibits.

The wide variety of programming and the unique blend of nature and the arts exemplifies the Center’s mission and the vision of its namesake, nationally recognized wildlife artist and naturalist, Ned Smith.

In keeping with the Center’s education mission, the Youth Pavilion will be in full swing – children can make a fish print t-shirt, get their faces painted, create recycled craft projects and meet Smokey Bear.

The famous Millersburg Ferry will host four programs: “Birds of the Susquehanna” with Scott Weidensaul, and “Waterfowl of the Susquehanna” with Bert Myers, as well as live musical performances by Joe Cooney and Matt Wenger.
