The Susquehanna University Choir and Chamber Singers will perform the music of their spring tour in the campus concert “How Can I Keep from Singing?” Titled after the American folk hymn, the concert will begin at 8 p.m. April 12 in Stretansky Concert Hall of the Cunningham Center for Music and Art. The event is free and open to the public.
The program will feature a rendition of the title song, and include music by Handel, Brahms and Haydn as well as contemporary composers.
The choir is primarily composed of music majors, though students in any academic program are eligible for membership based on an extensive audition. The Susquehanna University Chamber Singers is a smaller ensemble comprising 14 gifted students selected from the choir. Julia Brasher Thorn, Cyril Stretansky distinguished professor of choral music and director of choral activities at Susquehanna, conducts the ensembles.
