Valley Players Dinner Theater “The Savannah Sipping Society”
The Valley Players community theater organization will present “The Savannah Sipping Society,” a comedy by Jessie Jones, Nicholas Hope and James Wooten at The Packer House, 24 N. 3rd St., Sunbury on March 31, April 1, 7 and 8. This production brings the return of Valley Players dinner theater at the Packer House. Tickets are $35 and reservations with pre-payment are required.
In this delightful, laugh-a-minute comedy, four unique Southern women, all needing to escape the sameness of their day-to-day routines, are drawn together by Fate—and an impromptu happy hour—and decide it’s high time to reclaim the enthusiasm for life they’ve lost through the years. Randa, played by Sandie Fairman of New Columbia, is a perfectionist and workaholic, is struggling to cope with a surprise career derailment. Dot, portrayed by Kimberly Eaton of Selinsgrove, still reeling from her husband’s recent demise and the loss of their plans for an idyllic retirement, faces the unsettling prospect of starting a new life from scratch. Earthy and boisterous Marlafaye, a good ol’ Texas gal played by Maggie Able of Lewisburg making her Valley Players debut, has blasted into Savannah in the wake of losing her husband to another woman. Also new to town is Jinx, a spunky ball of fire played by Lizz Hendricks of Northumberland offers her services as a much-needed life coach for these women. However, blinded by her determination and efforts to get their lives on track, she over-looks the fact that she’s the one most in need of sage advice.
The menu includes entrée choices of pork loin in fresh ginger peach glaze, garlic chicken with fresh lemon herb sauce, or pesto pasta with mozzarella cheese-stuffed Portobello mushroom, as well as garden salad and rich carrot cake for dessert. The Packer House is also pleased to offer specialty cash bar cocktails and spirits.
