Nature Photography

Saturday, April 24⋅10:00am – 4:00pm

Join local amateur photographer Bob Haefner in introducing your child to basic nature photography.  This fun, interactive session will describe, to the budding shutterbugs, why a photo is made and also demonstrate a couple of tried-and-true composition rules to apply to their nature photography.  Children will have fun photographing, as well as completing a photo scavenger hunt to give them a chance to try what they have learned. Recommended for children ages 7-12.   A smartphone or other electronic device is required for participation.  This is a drop off program. Activities will be held outside weather permitting. In event of inclement weather, activities will be moved indoors.  Masks are required and COVID precautions will be followed.  Drop off is available no more than 10 minutes before the start of class. Spring into Art Workshop

Wednesday, April 28⋅4:00 – 6:00pm

Spring into Art with this re-imagined Arts Festival-inspired program! The three-day (April 28-30) event will introduce young artists to a variety of projects that evoke creative thinking, unique techniques, and fun approaches to the basic principles of art.  Workshop led by local artist Brianne Croteau and specific themes for each day will include composition, realism/abstraction, and ways to repurpose common art supplies in new and interesting ways. Program sponsored by BZ Motors.  Program is recommended for children 9-12 and is $15 to attend.  This is a drop off program. Activities will be held outside weather permitting. Up from the Jungle

Saturday, May 1⋅9:00 – 10:30am

Join us for a nature walk on Dale’s Ridge Trail as we search for jungle birds that have made the long trip from Central and South America’s jungles and tropics.  You will hear about the how and why of migration and learn about particular migrating birds, their songs, and behaviors.  Make your own bird call lanyard and put it to the test during the hike! Program held at the Dale Engle Walker property and  meeting at Dale Engle Walker house to begin. Recommended for children 6 and up. Participants should dress appropriately for hiking and may bring binoculars for viewing birds. Masks are required and COVID precautions will be followed.  This event is $12 for non-members, $10 for members. Drop off is available. Space is limited  and registration is required. Virtual Mother’s Day Tea Party

Saturday, May 8⋅11:00 – 11:30am

Join us for this extra special virtual event celebrating that special lady! Program includes an activity kit for caregiver and child to share and a facilitated program, complete with tea time etiquette led by the Mistress of Ceremonies. Kits include plastic tea cups to decorate, a flowering tea ball, materials to create your own tea party attire, and additional recipes and activities to make it an extra special memory. Plus, coupons and special treats from local businesses, like Bella’s Bliss, Gilly’s Lilies, and more! Orders due by April 24th. Orders available for pick up May 1stMay 7th.
