Two-Thirds of Kids Don’t Know What a Floppy Disk Is . . . and 86% Don’t Know Pagers
Two-Thirds of Kids Don’t Know What a Floppy Disk Is . . . and 86% Don’t Know Pagers
If you weren’t convinced you were an OLD PERSON before (well, Tom is at least) this should pretty much seal it. Tom and Lura were joined by Blake Haddon, a 7th grader from Selinsgrove Middle School and tested his knowledge on all things OLD.
A new survey showed pictures of old technology to kids who were between six and 18 years old, and asked them what they were looking at. Tom and Lura did the same with Blake this morning on the radio and Blake IMPRESSIVELY went 8/10. He knows his STUFF and did better than 86% of kids out there. Here are the results of the national survey, which we now serve you with a side of Metamucil . . .
- Pager . . . 86% had no idea what it was.
- Overhead projector . . . 71%.
- Floppy disk . . . 67%.
- Cassette . . . 40%.
- Video tape . . . 37%.
- Typewriter . . . 27%.
- Record player . . . 26%.
- Postcard . . . 23%.
- Disposable camera . . . 9%.
- Rotary phone . . . 5%.
Blake got his revenge though – he gave Tom and Lura his OWN list of things that are CURRENT and NOW; Tom and Lura went 3/3…apparently they need to keep up with the times a bit more (or at least Tom does).
