We’re going STREAKING

Have you heard? We’re challenging Central PA to go STREAKING – BUT – it’s not what you think. This streak is 40 straight days of ANY KIND physical activity.

We want to encourage others to get active during the busiest time of year. We’re using this streak not only to motivate ourselves, but to hold ourselves (and others) accountable. That’s what friends are for, am I right?

HERE’S HOW IT WORKS:
Ground rules: Commit to running 1 mile OR participating in at least 10 minutes of physical activity everyday. Post EVERYDAY using the hashtag #everydayCentralPA and/or #tomandlurastreak and/or #94KXstreaks on Twitter, Instagram or Facebook. P.S. You don’t have to live in Central PA to join in. Our community is everywhere =)

Remember, the challenge will begin on Thanksgiving Day and end on New Year’s Day.

Who can participate? Anyone! Feel free to invite your best friend, mom, dad, auntie, uncle, sisters, brothers and cousins.

If you’re new to working out, consult with your physician before trying any new workout regimen.

Engage: Use the hashtag #everydayCentralPA on your social media posts so that others in the network can “like” and comment on your pictures. Be sure to connect with other Central PA peeps online, don’t be shy! You can also use the hashtags #tomandlurastreak and/or #94KXstreaks to connect with us and others participating in the challenge.

Seriously, we can’t stress this enough. This community only works when you interact and encourage each other! Do it!

WHAT COUNTS AS PHYSICAL ACTIVITY?
We thought you’d never ask. Commit to doing at least 10 minutes of physical activity OR run at least 1 mile everyday. Sample workouts include the following:

  • A 10 minute bike ride (leisure or commuting)
  • Any fitness class (Spin, CrossFit, Barre, Pilates, etc.)
  • A 10 minute walk through the park or on the treadmill
  • A 10 minute yoga class or practice at home (YouTube is your friend!)
  • Go for a swim
  • A 1-mile hike, run or jog

Is there a workout that we missed? Do it and let us know when you’re done! Don’t forget to share using the hashtag #everydayCentralPA.

Remember, the goal is to workout or run everyday.

What if I miss a day? Don’t sweat it. Feel free to jump back in when you’re ready.

Can I start the challenge at anytime? If you missed the beginning of the streak, you can jump in at any time during the 40 days.

Is working out everyday bad for me? Yes, if you go overboard. Be sure to add low-impact workouts and yoga into your fitness regimen so that your body has enough time to recover in between tough workouts.

I’m suffering from an injury, can I still join? You probably shouldn’t but consult with your doctor to be sure.

I hate social media, how will I share? Selfie or it didn’t happen. Just kidding, but this is a social media based challenge so sharing is caring. Be sure to always tag @94KX @tomandluraon94KX #everydayCentralPA #tomandlurastreak #94KXstreaks.

What happens when I complete the streak? You get bragging rights!
