With Shocks and Public Shaming, This Bracelet Helps You Reach Your Goals.
Want to quit smoking? Workout more? Wake up earlier? The Pavlok Bracelet can help!
This thing looks harmless enough—but maybe not, here is a quote from their webpage: “Choose your level of commitment. Pavlok can reward you when you achieve your goals…but be warned: if you fail, you’ll face penalties. Pay a fine, lose access to your phone, or even suffer an electric shock..”
There are tons of wristbands out there trying to help keep you in shape, but Pavlok is focused on changing your habits. The bracelet and its app use a combination of negative and positive reinforcement to train your brain.
Choose what you want to accomplish and the app will break your goal down into easy, manageable actions. For example, the bracelet will send a shock to your wrist if you don’t go to the gym at a certain time.
Whether or not the Pavlok actually works–lets for argument’s sake say it works perfectly–would you want this thing???
I mean, I would like to be a morning person, but do you think a person who deosn’t have the willpower to get out of bed before 7am (me!) will tolerate a wrist zapper? Doubtful.
